My dad bought a new camera which costs about 2.3K. You might think it's a DSLR, right?But...It's NOT!It's a compact camera (prosumer). Frankly,its performance is pretty good .We can get a 14.3x optical zoom,which far exceeds the zoom range of a DSLR's kit lens. What suprised me is the excellent macro mode, I really cant believe when i tried it,the image is definately clear(it's not a macro lens!Focal length: f28-400mm) =/ Optical image stablisation is built in and it's ISO range is from 100 to 3200. However,the picture quality doesn't meet the same standard as DSLR.At low ISO,it's not so far off aDSLR for defination and noise.But,the images are clearly softer when we get to ISO400 and by ISO1600 the performace gap is pretty clear. I'd suggest my dad to get 1000D,but at the end my dad still choose that! I can see that he really love it.haha... By the way,there are 2 main reasons to buy it. First,it's much more versatile than any DSLR at the same price ; second,it's an ideal travel camera,replacing a DSLR and at least at one additional lens. It's actually cheap in long term.As i know,DSLR is really expensive in long term. (it's only my opinion,dont scold me~ =P)
